The registration of Ukrainian cheeses for the World Cheese Awards 2022 is closed. This year, 41 cheeses from 22 Ukrainian cheese makers will go to Great Britain for free. The press service of the ProCheese cheese connoisseur community from Ardis Group reported it.

“Thanks to Ardis Group‘s philosophy of “Getting to know countries through cheese” and the company’s long-term partnership with WCA organizers, we managed to start a project of free participation of Ukrainian cheeses in the international competition and allow our cheesemakers to introduce their cheeses to the world. We also received support from Switzerland as part of the Quality FOOD Trade Program, which provides an opportunity to implement this project,” says Oksana Chernova, a judge from Ukraine at the World Cheese Awards and founder of ProCheese Academy.

At the World Cheese Awards 2022, cheeses from:

  • the finalists of the festival of cheese art and cheese competition ProCheese Awards 2021 — Dooobra farm, Mukko, Syrni Mandry, Rory, Jersey, Chesnikovskaya cheese factory, Syroman;
  • large Ukrainian producers — Zvenigora, Lactalis, Lel’, Organic Milk, butter and cheese factory Andrushivskyi, cheese factory Altynivskyi, milk factory Haysynskyi;
  • cheese factories Forest Goat, World Cheese, Farmer’s dairy products, cheese factory Stanislavskaya, Obereg, Stary Porytsk, Cheeses from the Farmer, and European cheese factory.

ProCheese indicates that during the selection, they paid attention to the availability of documents and the quality of the cheese. The size and region of production did not matter.

We share the reviews of cheese producers whose cheeses will go to represent Ukraine for the first time at an international cheese competition:

“The World Cheese Awards is an opportunity to remind the world about our country. We must take steps every day to bring us closer to victory! Participation in the competition is our information front. Glory to Ukraine!”, — Maryana Lapko, owner of the cheese factory “Syrni Mandry”, Lviv, who sends hard cheeses “Tsurkan” from sheep’s milk, as well as “Capra in wine” from goat’s milk to the competition.

“Participation of the company in any events, especially international ones, is a great honor and responsibility. Our cheese at the World Cheese Awards is a recognition that we are on the right track. After all, “Organic Milk” is not only a high-quality natural product. It is a philosophy that involves caring for the environment and people’s health. We strive to make our product known in Motherland and abroad,” — Zinaida Kalmykova, brand marketer. At “Organic Milk,” they bet on “Ukrainian” hard cheese made from cow’s milk, the most recognizable and favorite product among many Ukrainians.

“Without your support, it would be difficult for us small producers to reach a new level. We thank you! You are doing a great job,” Liliya Belan, representative of the cheese factory “Farmer’s Milk Products”, Ternopil region. Lilia chose to send to the WCA “Cachiokavalo-Ukrainian-style” cheese made from cow’s milk.

The presentation of Ukrainian cheeses at the World Cheese Awards is one of the key events for the industry in recent years, as Ukrainian cheeses will take part in an international cheese competition for the first time. Now the organizers are working on developing a national stand at the WCA from Ukraine and a printed cheese guide. At ProCheese, we believe that our country deserves to be known not only for the brave fight against the aggressor but also for the diversity of cheese and the courage of the cheesemakers who continue to work in such a difficult time.

To follow the adventures of Ukrainian cheeses at the World Cheese Awards, subscribe to the Facebook or Instagram page of the national festival of cheese art ProCheese Awards, where the organizers promise to share all the news about the project.

The activity is carried out with the support of Switzerland as part of the Swiss-Ukrainian program “Development of trade with higher added value in the organic and dairy sectors of Ukraine”, which is implemented by the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL, Switzerland) in partnership with SAFOSO AG (Switzerland).
